North Little Rock is known as the Sports and Entertainment Capital of Arkansas.
Just about any sports fan can find a team to root for in our city. From the North Little Rock High School Charging Wildcats to the Arkansas Travelers, there’s always a game going on in the community.
The Arkansas Travelers, a minor league baseball team, call North Little Rock home. Verizon Arena hosts major regional and national amateur competitions. Former World Middleweight Boxing champion Jermain Taylor, a North Little Rock native, has fought at Verizon Arena. You can get your sports fix at the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame Museum located at Verizon Arena or at the Travs Baseball Museum located at Dickey-Stephens Park. You can get involved in the Little Rock Marathon, the Big Dam Bridge 100, USTA tennis, or the Big Bass Bonanza.
The UALR Trojans play at the Jack-Stephens Center across the river. During the 2010-2011 season, UALR was 1 of just 12 Division 1 programs out of 347 to have men’s and women’s basketball and baseball teams reach the NCAA tournament. The Arkansas Razorbacks basketball and football teams occasionally play in the area.
