The Military

The armed services have contributed to an esteemed and prosperous dynamic to the progression of the community since its earliest days when U.S Army personnel established Fort Roots more than a century ago. Today, thousands of active and reserve troops are stationed in North Little Rock at Camp Robinson and Camp Pike, and thousands more military retirees call North Little Rock home.The Professional Education Center (PEC) at Camp Robinson/Camp Pike was founded in 1974 and has grown to be the National Guard premier, training and conference center. PEC hosts approximately 20,000 trainees annually from the National Guard, Army Reserve, Active Army,DOD, State and Federal agencies.The Combat Airlift Mission and installation excellence happens through a synergistic concept the Little Rock Air Force Base and community call Team Little Rock. Little Rock Air Force Base is a total force association of civilian and active duty, Guard and Reserve, instructors and students. The 314th Airlift Wing from AETC and the 189th Airlift Wing Arkansas Air National Guard, provide the foundation of combat airlift with initial training in the C-130J and C-130Hmodels. The 19th Airlift Wing “Home of Combat Airlift” and the Reservists in 913th Airlift Group provide combat-focused, battle ready operators to combatant commanders. Lastly, the 29thWeapons Squadron from Air Combat Command produces graduate-level instruction in weapons and tactics employment.
